New research from the University of Miami ha shown that exercise and a strict diet taken over a number of years can reduce or curtail the onset of diabetes.
One lady who took part in the University study when it started 10 years ago was overweight and pre-diabetic.
Ten years on, she is 16 kilos lighter, has no trace of diabetes, and her cholesterol readings are excellent.
The study concluded that those who maintained the strict diet and exercise for 10 years reduced their diabetes risk by 34%. They also had lower blood pressure and triglyceride levels and took fewer drugs.
Dr Goldberg of the University of Miami said ” It demonstrates that lifestyle changesv can last as long as10 years in preventing or slowing diabetes in people who are at risk”

1. The idea that a person should not worry about their fitness is not only poor judgment, but could prove to be very unhealthy over time. Take the example of carrying too much weight and the problems this causes now and in later life. A fit person’s weight is correct for their height and build. An overweight person is causing the entire body system to work overtime in order to function. Excess weight over time puts a strain on the heart, the kidneys, the legs and the knees.
2. Later in life a person who has done this for their entire life will pay for it with high blood pressure and very likely have arthritis problems with their knees. Overweight people have a tendency to eat incorrectly and snack on the wrong food. Both of these can have lasting effects on the oral health. Their teeth and gums can be severely abused by a lifetime of consuming the wrong foods and supplying the bacteria in the mouth with the sugar they can convert to acid, which decays the teeth and irritates the gums. This can lead to the loss of perfectly healthy teeth at an early age and decaying teeth that can cause other medical problems if left unchecked. I
3.Infected gums and teeth can lead to heart and other systemic problems as the infection is carried to other parts of the body. An unfit person also compromises the immune system and that can lead to ailments that could have been prevented. Another obvious side problem for overweight people is the higher odds of having diabetes
4. This preventable disease can cause many terrific and ugly problems from losing a foot to having the eyesight damaged and the possibility of permanent blindness.
5. A fit body is a very good fighter against all ailments and diseases that can attack the human body. The system is not easily compromised in a fit person. Old age ailments can be kept at bay for a longer period of the person’s life or prevented entirely.
6. The advantage of a fitness program and the resulting fit person has numerous benefits in the long life of the person. Sickness and ailment free is the best way a person can live their time on this earth. The game plan is to start early and maintain the body in as good a shape as can be obtained for as long as possible. In a fitness gym you will find older people who belie their chronological age due to their physical fitness. These fitness advocates are the best advertisement for keeping fit throughout a lifetime if at all possible.
7. It is never to late to start a fitness program, but the program will work better for the person if a fitness trainer professionally designs it. The program by an experienced trainer will take into consideration the age and physical condition of the client and the program will be designed for that specific client and not a one size fits all plans.
Good Luck!

1. What is good for your health and fitness is often good for your body and your teeth. Exercise and a well thought out nutrition programme are both helpful for a person’s fitness and also for a healthy set of teeth.
2. Nutrition goes hand in hand with a fit body, a healthy disease fighting immune system and healthy teeth and gums. The disease fighting immunity system is important to all parts of the body including the gums. The gums are particularly susceptible to diseases due to the enormous amount of bacteria that lives in a person’s mouth. The bacteria can be fed by what is eaten and lack of good dental hygiene.
3.Fitness improves all aspects of a person’s life and the feeling that a healthy body gives to the person senses. This sense of well-being can be used by a person to strive to do the things that they need or want to do. A healthy body generates a healthy mind and you could say a healthy oral situation for your teeth and gums. Fighting gum disease is a serious problem for a large percentage of people who do not take care of their teeth and gums or are just predisposed to gum problems. A high percentage of older people over 65 have no natural teeth left when they reach that age. The food part of getting fit and keeping fit can also help in this fight against gum disease. Eating the right food is a big part of keeping fit and fighting gum problems. Fitness is also the result of doing the things that you do not want to do in order to gain a better lifestyle. Keeping fit is hard work that has to be done on a routine basis. Brushing and flossing each day as part of a set routine, helps you achieve keeping your teeth and gums healthy. Many people skip the flossing entirely and brush in a haphazard schedule. Fitness is not achieved by a haphazard workouts and poor eating habits. Your teeth and gums will not be kept at their best by not caring for them in the correct manner.
4.Another aspect of a good fitness program is it helps the body perform the tasks it needs to do to stay healthy and disease free. Healthy people have fewer problems than people who are not following a health programme to maintain their fitness. The correct diet to maintain weight and fitness would also be a good diet to keep teeth and gums healthy. Couple that with a programme of brushing and flossing and a person would have both a fit body and a fit oral situations.
5.Any person considering the health factors that will have a long term affect on their body should try to come up with a complete body program and not just think about getting a washboard stomach or bigger arms. They need to be involved in a program that ensures a complete health programme.

What is the best type of fitness program?
1. There are many programs that a person after a healthy life can join in and become a strong participant.
2.Swimming every day or so is one way to keep toned up and also not put extra strain on the body.
3.Working out by yourself in a club or at home can lead to very solid benefits.
4.Doing this with the advice and supervision of a personal trainer will further advance the client’s fitness results.
5. The fitness program will depend on the interest of the person doing the exercise and this could include running, swimming, weight lifting, aerobics, dance programs and using the many exercise machines that are now available. It will also depend on the trainer the person works out with and advice they are given.
6. Private sessions and group sessions are another way to be involved in a fitness program. Either will work, it just depends on the individual’s preference and their pocketbook. Private sessions will cost more than group sessions. Also a private session is more personal and the trainer will be more involved with the client. By picking a trainer, the fitness student in effect picks a fitness program as the trainer will have a program that they use and have faith will give the desired results. Each trainer that a student talks with will explain his or her program. The student should pick the one that appeals the most to them. So by getting a trainer the student picks the program that they will use to gain their fitness goals. If the student wants to go it alone, there are many programs that can be purchased on DVDs. Fitness programs are sold on TV every day. They usually accompany a piece of equipment the ad is selling and the program uses the equipment to gain the desired fitness level.
7. Some fitness advocates are believers in switching between programs after a time with one program. The idea is that the new program will spark a different interest and renew the effort to gain from the program. There is something to be said for keeping the enthusiasm at a high level. Workouts are hard work and a strong mental energy makes it easier to endure. Good trainers are aware of this and use enthusiasm to motivate their clients to greater output of energy and to gain a higher level of fitness. Keeping the interest high and a level of desire is a big part of gaining from a fitness program. Doing it by yourself is more difficult than if a trainer is pushing you. The experienced trainer knows when to cajole and when to push the student to higher levels of work. Every trainer has a different way of doing their program, but the effort in all cases is to get the client as fit as possible. One important element is to get the client to put out at a greater level at each stage of training. Effort equals results is the idea in fitness training.

Eight Reasons to use a Personal Trainer
1. Fitness is something that many people are reluctant to try until they get into the routine. This is one good reason that a personal trainer may be a way to start as the trainer can show you the ropes and guide you. Learning on your own in your home or in a gym is also a way that some people will be successful with once they h ave decided to make the effort.
2.The personal trainer is a way to get solid advice and personal support in setting your goals and then striving to reach them. The personal support of a trainer can make the difference for many who want to become fit in body and attitude.
3. The trainer can also recommend a nutritional programme that will aid the body by losing excess weight and becoming healthier with a sense of well-being. It is this feeling of being on top of the world that comes with being fit that makes all of the work worth the time and sweat. A personal trainer can make a big difference with some people who need guidance.
4. The trainer’s advice on exercises they should learn, the correct way to do them for maximum benefit and the number of repeats that should be taken are invaluable to a new fitness advocate. This is not available to a person learning for the first time. Training should be started at a pace that is well within the person’s ability and over time become more difficult to do.
5. This advice is where a trainer can make the difference. Having a leader in training has other advantages, as the client will be pushed to exert their body further than they might do it by themselves. This pushing for more effort is helpful in gaining the level of fitness the trainer and the client have agreed to achieve.
6. The nutritional help is good for all functions of the body including the teeth and the gums as long as oral hygiene is part of the picture.
7. Eating the right foods and making the diet changes, which include changing the snack food, are part of a good trainer’s personal programme. Eating raw fruit like apples instead of sweets and replacing soft drinks with fruit or vegetable juices has many benefits including getting rid of the serious sugar levels in a can of Coke. Drinking Coke throughout the day is very harmful to the teeth and gums over time due to the sugar that is introduced into the mouth and not removed by rinsing. It also fights losing weight, which is the goal of many new fitness clients.
8. Once a person has gained a solid knowledge of fitness routines and diet, they can easily become self-sufficient and need a trainer less and less. They know what to do and how to do it once they have been shown the basics. It is an individual preference, but a trainer early in the programmewill provide long lasting benefits.
